USS Abraham Lincoln

A successful supply drive ends with 14 boxes headed to the men and women aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln thanks to students at Harman School and Smith Elementary in Oakwood.

This year, the theme for the schools' character education program, Timber, is caring and service.  When staff and students heard of the need of the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln, they jumped in to help.

The roughly 5,000 crew members of the USS Abraham Lincoln recently spent more than six months in the Arabian Sea on a deployment. The carrier's mission has been extended again, putting the return date for the men and women aboard after the first of the year.

Students donated toiletries, games, snacks and other personal items to spread some joy to the sailors separated from their families.
