• Is the flu vaccine safe?

  Yes! Potential side effects are rare and usually very mild (such as pain at the injection site). Ask any care team member if you have questions.

• Do I have to get it now?

  Now is the best time while you are already there. It takes two weeks after vaccination for full protection to develop. Simply visit the pharmacy inside the hospital.

• What if I already had the flu?

  You should still get vaccinated because multiple strains circulate at once. The vaccine can protect against other strains.

• Can I get the flu from the shot?

  No. The shot does not contain a live virus, so it cannot cause the flu.

• How much does it cost?

  Staff will submit the claim to your insurance company, so in most cases, there is no cost to you. A copy of the consent form can also be faxed to your child's primary care physician.

• Why should I get the flu vaccine?

  The flu can be serious or deadly. Annual vaccination is one of the easiest ways to protect your family. Every eligible Dayton Children's staff member receives the flu vaccine annually.

  Ohio state law limits vaccine age limits in pharmacies. A primary care physician is the best place for vaccinations for children age 4 or younger.

Oakwood Youth Lacrosse (OYL)
