2020 Summer Reading Resources
Welcome to 2020 Summer Reading Resources. We hope these resources will help families develop strategies for encouraging their students to participate in summer reading activities and strengthen their reading skills.
Oakwood Schools teachers, curriculum specialists and staff members from the Wright Memorial Public Library compiled these optional learning opportunities.

Scholastic Learn at Home for Grades PreK - K
Scholastic provides four weeks of lessons based on bugs, animals, hygiene, trucks and other topics that will appeal to your youngster. The Play Starters for each week provide 20 simple ideas for playing with a purpose.
Here are a few ideas of fun ways to include reading and writing in your summer days:
- Write about your reading in your Writer’s Notebooks you picked up at school.
- Make a journal or diary about your daily or weekly activities. Add pictures!
- Try and read 20 minutes a day. Write about your reading.
- Send a letter or email to a friend, relative or teacher.
